Weekending
We had a full weekend.
My flowers are steadily growing. I thought I pulled all the gladiolus bulbs out of that first bed, and transferred them, but obviously I missed a few. That flower bed was suppose to be sunflowers and pumpkins. I guess it's gladiolus, sunflowers and pumpkins now! Not sure how that is going to work. I have other sprouts coming up, so not sure if it's pumpkin leaves or sunflowers. Too little to tell just yet.
Weekends are for breakfast.
The pink bunny slipper mission continues. While getting a pedicure I knitted away. I got plenty of stares.
We are finally painting our room! We have been in our house for about 5 years and our room was one of the last to be painted. We have family (in-laws) coming to visit end of June, so getting all the Honey Dos' off the list.
Even with all the Honey Do's still had time for a Sunday afternoon nap. He napped, I knitted in bed beside him. Must get bunny slippers done by Friday!
Weekends are good.

Grilling Pizza
I LOVE pizza!
I could literally eat pizza everyday. I've never grilled pizza before, but has been on my list of must dos. And this weekend my must do became I did! I found a pizza dough recipe on Pinterest that was perfect for grilling.
I planned on making the pizza dough the night before, but had a Girl Scout leader meeting and didn't get around to it. Luckily with this dough you can make it the night before or the same day you make the pizza. Very easy and versatile. I was up early so made the dough and let it rise all day until I was ready to grill.
Everyone made their own personal pizza, with a variety of toppings. It was so quick and easy! Perfect for summer evenings when you don't want to slave over a hot stove. I have a fruit pizza I want to try grilled, along with a few other pizzas I want to try. I see quite a few pizza nights this summer, and I don't mind! I LOVE pizza!
Want to grill your own pizza? Yes, you do! Grilled pizza dough here.

Backyard/Yard Chronicles
With warmer weather here, we've been spending more and more time in the yard, and are steadily working on sprucing it up. I have gladiolus coming up in my flower beds, and hoping to see sunflowers and daisies soon! And still crossing my fingers for the pumpkins. Still not sure they will grow, but we'll see. I go out everyday and check out the beds. Someone else seems to love my flower beds too. Titus!!! I caught him digging in my beds, so I put pinwheels in the beds, hoping to scare him and they worked. He doesn't like them and stays out the beds. No expensive scarecrows needed.
On one side of the house, we had some bushes growing, and a few years ago I planted some tropicanna canna lilies, very pretty perennials with bright orange flowers. I've been wanting to take out the bushes and put all tropicanna canna lilies there, but just never got around to it until this past weekend. Fonzy and Elijah helped me pull out the bushes. It was harder than I thought. We finally got them all out and I planted a few more lilies. They spread on their own, but I need at least 2 more to fill up some spots, but I think it looks so much better.
Slowly but surely our yard is coming together. I need a hanging plant for my front porch, and some for the backyard. New tiki torches and twinkle lights for the patio and a few other projects and the yard will be set for summer. Our grill will get much use, along with Lowes and Home Depot becoming our favorite spots!
This Friday evening we plan on grilling pizza and hanging out in the yard. Pictures will follow of course :)

Motherless Daughter on Mothers Day
Mommy, Me and brother Jay
My Aunt Elba's wedding
My Mom and Grandmother at my Grandmother's wedding
Three generations - My Mom, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. My Mom's coffee pot, brewed coffee all day long, every day. I get my coffee addiction from her.
Mommy, and sister Karen
Her words - a journal I have of hers. She only has 3 entries in it.
I've been a motherless daughter since the age of 15. And after 29 years I still miss her everyday. Memories have faded with time, I can kind of remember her voice, her laughter. I would give anything just sit with a cup of coffee (her's black, no cream, no sugar) and chat. To share my life, now that I'm all grown up and a mother myself. Right now, I've lived 13 more years than she did. She died at 31.
With Mother's Day around the corner, I felt a tug at my heart. I pulled out the few pictures I have of her, her journal and sat on my bedroom floor longing for her. I caressed the pages knowing many years ago, late at night, she wrote the words that were on her heart at the time. Her hands touched these very pages. She wrote to God. Asked that He guide her to Him, make her a better wife and mother. I've read her words before, but they never hit me like they did at that moment. Her words and feelings were my own. She even wrote "I am really getting tired, I want to knit, and then I don't." I have said those very words.
I look back at the precious few pictures I have and wonder about the woman she was. The one I wonder most about is the one in the hospital with my Grandmother by her side. I'm not sure who took the picture, but what was my Mom thinking at that moment, knowing the cancer was winning. What was my Grandmother thinking as she watched her daughter dying. So much love and heartache in that one moment.
I miss my Mother everyday. Wish I had more time with her. Wish I could jump into that picture on that sunny afternoon many years ago. Sit with her on grass, hold her hand, and tell her I love her.

Fried Green Tomato BLT
I love fried green tomatoes and was so happy when I found some at the Farmers market this past weekend. They were perfect for fried green tomato BLT's. They were really good, but the next time I make them I will have more bacon on the sandwiches. I like my sandwiches piled high, and this one was kind of skimpy. I guess I was off my sandwich game that day.
