Sometimes all you need is an evening walk on a warm day, with pink fields and setting sun. And of course a companion.

Not Perfect

not perfect me and titus me and titus 3 It's ok not to be perfect

This is one of my favorite tees and a great reminder. No one is perfect, no matter how "perfect" they portray themselves on social media. I'm so far from perfect, but you know what? It's ok.

Titus loves me just as am :)

I love these pictures of us. He's not suppose to be on the bed...hubby's rule, but I couldn't resist getting these pictures. I fought getting a dog for over 3 years and finally agreed to get one. And now I couldn't see our life without him. He's not perfect either, but he's perfect for us!

Lake Day

DSC_0035 boats IMG_1470 DSC_0039 DSC_0026 DSC_0036 titus DSC_0117 DSC_0085 DSC_0034 DSC_0022 DSC_0038 DSC_0079 DSC_0056 DSC_0128 DSC_0025 I took the day off on Samuel's birthday, and headed to one of our local lakes. I wanted to spend the day, thinking happy thoughts, and seeing beauty that exists in this harsh world we live in.

Some days are so hard, the news and social media has heartbreaking story, after heartbreaking story. I just wanted to step away from it all. Titus and I spent a few hours at the lake and it was good for my soul. I sat and felt the breeze, listened to the water as it rippled along the shore. I wanted to hijack that little boat on the shore, and sit in the middle of the lake, Just sit, with the gentle rocking of the boat lulling me to sleep. I've often said I would love to live on a houseboat. I love being near water. I prefer an ocean, but sometimes a little lake will do.

I didn't hijack the boat, but I did sit in it for a bit. Maybe next time I will find the owner and ask if I could borrow it.

Me ~ Titus ~ Leaves

me and titus1 me and titus 2 me and titus 3 me and titus me and titus 6 leaves Leaves! Leaves! Leaves!

Today, the air is chilly, the leaves are crunchy and I wanted some pictures to remember the joy that is Fall and being in leaves.

I can always count on Ezekiel to be my photographer. He may shake his head, but he'll always appease me.

As soon as I sat under the tree, Titus came running and sat beside me. No pictures without him in mix. I wish I could get Fonzy and the boys to do the same thing. They hate taking pictures, but I'm hoping this weekend I can get them to sit for a few in the backyard, under this tree. I need a family picture, Titus included. And this is the perfect setting. Our own backyard, where all our memories are. I'm hoping the tree can hold on to some of it's leaves until then.

I'm sure you are tired of me saying it, but I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Fall! Can it just go on forever!

Titus

Titus and Fonzy Ezekiel and Titus I think to the time we didn't have Titus. Our house was cleaner -  no dog hair everywhere. It was quieter - no pitter patter of  nails on wood. I slept all night - no having to get up at 2am to take him out. But his unconditional love trumps all.

Friday Night Date

Friday night date
The boys and Fonzy are out at a basketball game tonight, so it's just Titus and I.

I ordered a pizza, have my pj's on, got my knitting and have romantic movies on the agenda. My kind of Friday night.

Let's do this Titus!

Elijah and Titus

elijah and titus elijah and titus_5 elijah and titus_3 elijah and titus_2
When we went to pick Titus up to bring him home with us, Elijah was the first one to hold him. At 6 weeks Titus was so tiny, wobbly on his little feet, and oh so cute.

Dogs are something special. If you've never had one, I don't think you can truly understand. You might just say, "oh, it's JUST a dog." I was actually one of those people until Titus came into our lives. This April he will be 2 years old and I can't imagine our life without him. He's a constant companion and showers love on all of us. From the first moment Elijah took him into his arms, we were smitten and still are.

Rainy Friday

MyshadowTitus
Today was a rainy, dreary day. The kind of day you don't want to leave the house. Plenty of coffee this morning to keep warm. Had lunch plans with a friend I haven't seen in a while, but unfortunately, we had to cancel due to work obligations. I was bummed, because I was so looking forward to the chicken and waffles I planned on having, but will have to wait until next Friday.

Even though lunch was canceled I had to run out for a few errands, but rushed back home to put on colorful socks and leggings. These seem to be my go to outfit lately. There's nothing better on a rainy day than soft, thick colorful socks and a puppy to keep you company.

I'm working on another doll, hoping to have her done by early next week. I think this is going to be my year of dolls. Of course I plan on knitting other things, but dolls are whispering to be made and I must answer.

Oh Christmas Tree

ezekiel tree Titus Christmas tree me and tree elijah christmas tree socks lights christmas tree
It's the most wonderful time of the year!

Christmas! And I can have all the twinkle lights I want and no one will think I'm crazy - time of year!

Right after Thanksgiving I'm ready to get our tree and decorate for Christmas. This year was no exception. My boys decided this year that we should get a little tree. Not really sure why, but when we went to pick out the tree, Ezekiel went to the smallest one and declared it, "The One" It was as tall as him, and kind of skinny - just like him! I tried to persuade him to choose another one, but he was determined that this was it. So we took it home.

Titus wasn't too sure about the tree. He watches it out of the corner of his eyes, and darts past it whenever he has to go near it.

Elijah demonstrating how short the tree really is. I actually like our little Charlie Brown tree. No need for the bigger is better. Small feels just right this year.

Thankful For This

me and titus_2 titus_tracks_2 acorn mingo trail treeheart trail spruce titus_2 berries bench tracks windblown scarecrow bare leaves I decided to take this week of Thanksgiving off. Fonzy and boys have school the first part of the week, so it's just Titus and I hanging out at home. I plan on knitting, doing some baking and cooking and just relaxing the next couple of days. Today the temperature was in the 70's. Too nice to be indoors, so Titus and I ventured out to check out the trails right in our hood.

The air was heavy with the scent of rain, but there was a warm breeze. Most of the leaves have already fallen from the trees. Fall is so fleeting. I wish it would last longer.

Titus and I walked and walked. Just my thoughts, the rustling leaves, the jingle of Titus's dog tag, and curvy railroad tracks and trails. I love walking on railroad tracks. Looking ahead and seeing them curve around a bend. There's something magical about them to me. The promise of a journey, of places unknown....just around the bend.

I'm so thankful for this life of mine. For the simple things like walking, the company of a much loved dog, and enjoying the beauty that's right here.
