FO Friday - Dolls

exhale deep breathe....

These twins are finally done and I couldn't be happier! Happy to be done and happy how they turned out!

Dolls are my favorite to knit. I love to see how they turn out. While knitting them I really have no clue how they will look when finished. Each doll is unique and has it's own personality. Even these two. They may look identical, but there are subtle differences. These twin dolls are going to cousins. Their Aunt who commissioned them wanted them alike as the little girls would fight over them if they were different. I'm hoping they love them to pieces.

I'm composing a post of why I started doll knitting. They have become my favorite to knit. My Mom was a knitter and over 35 yrs ago she knit a doll for my cousin. 32 years ago my Mom passed away. My cousin still has that doll.  I hadn't seen the doll since my Mom gave it to her, until this past weekend. Getting my thoughts together to write about it.

And I'm so happy how she turned out! One of my favorite dolls yet! I've already started another that's going to reflect my love of Holly Hobbie and Little House on the Prairie.

Happy Friday Everyone!

Here in NC we were hoping for a snow day today. News last night was saying we would get snow. Needles to say we were all excited for a snow day on Friday. Woke up this morning to nothing! Nada! Zilch! How disappointing!

Oh well, on to FO and Creative Friday. I have become a doll fanatic! This is my newest doll Zoya, made from a Deena Thomson-Menard design. I LOVE all her doll patterns. I have several others on my list to knit.

I made Zoya for myself. I just couldn't part with her.

FO and Creative Friday - Monsters and Hats

Happy Friday!

It's been a while since I've participated in FO and Creative Friday, but I've knitted lots! I've been on a hat knitting frenzy. Holiday hats, preemie hats, just regular ole' hats. Hats, Hats, Hats!

Along with all the hats, I'm working on a few monsters and babydoll for Christmas. Once all my Christmas knitting is done, I have a few doll patterns I'm going to try out and can't wait! And a few more hats of course - can never have too many hats!

FO Friday and Creative Friday

Happy Friday Crafty Peeps!

I almost forgot I had 2 projects to share today! Go me!

I finally knitted up a whale for my grandson, Jonah. You can't be named Jonah and not have a whale, right. I put his fins on wrong, They were suppose to be sideways, but I'm sure Jonah won't mind or even notice.

My second project is my Hello Kitty hat I made for a friend's daughter. Of course I had to try it on and model it. I wasn't too sure about the whiskers, but I guess they look alright. I hope my friends daughter likes it. I have requests for a few more Hello Kitty hats. Luckily it only took me 2 days to make.

That's it for me! I'm ready for this long holiday weekend in the States. I have girlfriends visiting from TX and I'm too excited! Can't wait for them to get here later today!

FO and Creative Friday - Babydoll Madness!

I almost forgot I had something to share on this FO Friday! I finished babydoll number 2!

On to number 3!


I've promised 3 more babydolls and I think I will be done with babymaking for a while! Or that's how I feel right now.

I'm such a bad Grandma because I still have the first babydoll I made for my Granddaughter Carmen. I want to finish a hat for my son, and a whale for grandson before I mail it all off. I really need to get on the ball with that and send it already!

FINALLY!

HaPpY Friday!

I couldn't wait for this FO Friday! I have finally finished the never-ending babydoll and I'm sooo happy with how she turned out! She is sooo worth all the fussing I did while making it.

Isn't she cute!

OK, OK.....I guess I shouldn't toot my own horn, but I really didn't think the doll was going to come out like she did.


I'm not even sure why it took me 3 months to make! The pattern wasn't hard at all. I started a second babydoll on Saturday and I'm already half way done with the body.

I hope Lil' Miss Carmen loves it. If not, I told my son I want it back :)

The second one I'm making is for my BF's daughter 2nd birthday, then I have a 3rd one for a sweet friend in the UK for her grandbaby.

Monster Madness!

Happy Friday!

So, as you can see the Babydoll did not make today's FO Friday. I've been sidetracked. My youngest son is going with my sister and nephew to see the Lorax tomorrow and have green eggs and ham at IHop, so he asked that I make him a Lorax. I started it last night and will knit like crazy today to get him done for tomorrow morning. Oh the things we do for our kids :)

As you can see, we've been invaded by Monsters!

Everyday when we get  home from work/school my son runs to the mailbox to see if any new monsters have arrived. We get so excited to see a package! The knitting/crocheting community is so awesome! When I posted about my Monster Mission of Love, the response was more than I could have hoped for. I mean, look at all those happy monsters, ready to bring smiles to kids in foster care. I am delivering the monsters this weekend to the foster mom.

FO Friday - For Dallas Cowboy Fans

Happy FO and Creative Friday Peeps!

I finally finished the Dallas Cowboys girls hat for my cousin. It took me a little longer than the other mohawk hats because I was tired of all the fringe! That fringe takes a long time! I still have one more mohawk hat to do for my nephew and I think I'm done until next football season!

I had the boys give a message to all our friends and family who are cowboy fans and posted it on FB for them. The cowboys lost the night before, so we wanted to mess with them. The last sign says - "So sorry you lost last night.....NOT! :)

I'm still working on this babydoll, but really not feeling it. I might look for another pattern that is done in the round. I got the Itty Bitty Toys just for this babydoll pattern, so think I might switch.
