That yearly thing

I had my yearly appointment to check all my female parts and everything seems to be in working order. Isn’t that nice to know?

Knitting

Today during lunch I decided to check out Joanne Fabrics for a new knitting project. I'm still working on my scarf, but ready to start something new. I've gone to the library and have a ton of books with patterns....sweaters, socks, halter tops, bags. They are all so cute. I even got a book for men's patterns, to make something for Fonzy. I have a long way to go, but I'm really excited about it. My new project though is going to be a chemo cap. I was searching online for charities for knitters and came across it. A mother started knitting caps for her daughter who had cancer, but unfortunately passed away. As we all know, one of the side effects of cancer is losing your hair. So she came up with this idea.
"The caps are made so that cancer patients who lose their hair can have a very soft hand-knit cap to call their own, comforting their heads and their souls."

Since my mom was a chemo patient and hated wearing her wig, I thought this was a great idea. I want to start my own chemo cap charity. We have so many hospitals in this area, and I know the need is here. Any caps I knit, I'm going to include a little card that says "In loving memory of Ida Jackson" - that was my mom, a prior chemo patient and knitter.
So off to Joanne Fabrics to find what I needed for my first chemo cap. I have a knitting meetup tonight and wanted to have my materials so I can have one of the ladies teach me the different stitches, etc I need to learn for my caps. Can you say confused! Oh my gosh, I didn't think it would be so hard to figure out the needles I needed, the yarn I wanted. I ended up asking another customer who was in knitting section with me. She helped me out with the needles and other things I would need, since she was working on a baby hat. Then I had to decide on the color. That took me forever! I just couldn't decide what I wanted. This first cap is just practice, so I'm sure I won't give it to anyone, but it was still hard to decide. I ended up picking out a pink yarn I liked. Pink being my favorite color and all. I'm excited to see how it's going to turn out.

I wasn't really feeling any of the yarn. I think I need to go to a yarn shop. I'm sure they would have more variety.

So many different needles - I was confused!

Finally settled on pink, my favorite color.

Date Night

This past Friday, Fonzy and I had a date night. We normally do dinner and movie, but I wanted to do something different. I still wanted dinner, (you know I love to eat) but wanted to bowl or play pool. Dinner was Red Lobster. It’s been years since I’ve been to Red Lobster and I’ve only gone once, so wanted to check it out again. I’ve been seeing that Lobster Feast commercial and it looks so good. Or maybe it was because I was doing South Beach and everything was looking good. Did you catch the key word in that sentence??? Let me help you out….WAS! Yeah, I lasted the torturous first two weeks and then kind of feel off the wagon. But I digress; we were talking about date night, not dieting. Anyways, Fonzy and I e-mailed each all day before our date. We were acting like we had just met and were going out. We even had different names. Mine was Lola and his was Beaushawn. I’m not sure where he came up with that name, but whatever. I kinda liked being a Lola. Anyways, he picked me up from work and we headed to Red Lobster. Dinner was great! I had a plate full of crab, lobster and shrimp and enjoyed every bite! I paused once to think about how I was cracking crab legs and digging its meat out to eat, but it was only a second. I quickly got over it. After dinner we headed to the bowling alley. I think everyone and their momma wanted to bowl on Friday night. It was packed. So pool it was. Now I like to talk mad junk when I’m competing against Fonzy. I just knew I was going to beat him in pool. I had played many times before and he claimed he really didn’t play pool. We played for two hours and I lost every single game! Now a few were on a technicality, like scratching on the eight ball, but I guess it doesn’t matter. I got my butt beat, and Fonzy will not let me forget it. But, that’s ok, because this definitely will not be our last time playing pool and I will be the one beating butt next time! Just you wait and see!

Can you tell he is thrilled about me taking pictures. He should be use to it by now and just pose, right?!

Yummy! I ate every drop!

The beatings shall now begin!

Maybe I was holding the stick wrong? You think? I just couldn't get it in a comfortable position.

***************************************************
That's what the trip to Tennessee was all about....a revival! I’ve been in a slump lately in my spiritual life and knew my Aunt Nadia would be there for me. She has been a Christian for over 31 years and has always encouraged me. Normally the encouragement is via phone, but Karen and I decided we needed more than a phone call. We needed Aunt Nadia, in the flesh, with all her hugs and kisses. I can’t tell you how much it meant to me spending time with Aunt Nadia, learning things about her life we didn’t know. She is an amazing woman! I took over 300 pictures! The Saturday night we were there, we had a little photo shoot. We were in our PJ’s and took tons of pictures…just being silly. I will cherish those pictures and I’m sure smile whenever I look back on them. I am making a photo book of our revival weekend for Aunt Nadia, Karen and myself. I didn’t ask my Aunt about posting her picture on line, so I’m only posting this one of all three of us along with pictures from our journey to Tennessee and our revival.

Karen and I had to get a picture of the backseat of the car. Can you tell me what is missing???

KIDS!

Fill her up and let's hit the road!

Most of the trip was through mountains. It was beautiful!

We jammed to the good ole' 80's. I even rapped a little. I recorded myself. Once I figure out how to download it, I will show you all my rapping skills!

Death Tunnel...do you see how close that semi was! One bad move, and you are done!

The light at the end of the tunnel.

Snacks for the road. Karen and I love combos!

Road Trip!

Karen and I are going on a road trip today to TN to visit our dear Aunt Nadia. JUST THE TWO OF US! We have never taken a trip like this without kids. We are so excited. Today is a rainy, dreary day, but that's not going to put a damper on our spirits! We will be leaving in about 10 mins and I can't wait! I plan on taking pictures throughout our drive and of course while we are in TN this weekend. Video clips will also be posted, so stay tuned. You can also follow me on Twitter as I tweet our journey. Well, time to pack up my work and hit the road.

Tennessee, here we come!

Spring

If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant; if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.

Baseball practice

This past weekend we had beautiful weather and with baseball season right around the corner, Fonzy took the boys out to practice. When it comes to sports or anything really, Fonzy expects the boys to give 110% If you are not going to give your all, then why bother is his thinking. That's the way he played sports as a kid, giving his all, and he doesn't expect anything less from the boys. I sometimes think he is too hard on the boys, and expects too much, but I've learned if you don't push the boys they won't give their all. Sometimes the boys get frustrated, but I know when they get older, they will appreciate how hard he pushed them.

Another Snow Day

We got a rare snowday today. There wasn't alot of snow, but enough to close schools for the day. The boys weren't excited about it at all. That's another day that will be taken away from Spring Break. We would of liked the snow during the holidays, not when Spring is in the air.
