Samuel

The other night sitting at Frankie’s Fun Park waiting for Fonzy, the boys and Sydney playing laser tag, my mind wanders to Samuel. Years ago he worked here, walking these very floors among the flashing lights and sounds of the video games. As I sit, I see the ghost of my lanky Samuel, khaki clad with a blue shirt on, smiling. Eerie music of an attraction plays behind me, tears fill my eyes, it all feels surreal. He was once here and in this moment I feel his presence.

Letter to my Son's killer

I wrote this letter below in a blog post, May 16, 2016 and stumbled across it today in my drafts. I have yet to actually mail this letter off. Maybe one day I'll be able to. Maybe not. I decided to post it on my blog for now. I know there are other Mothers going through this right now. I've met so many through my blog posts of Samuel and it hurts my heart each time I hear a story of losing our babies. May 23rd will be 9 years since we lost Samuel and the pain still cuts like a knife.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've written this letter a thousand times in my mind. I've often lain awake at night, thinking of what I would say to you. I've even gone as far as to start a letter on paper, but end up tearing it to pieces. How do I even start a letter to you? Hi? Mr. Foster? Latarus? I couldn't decide, so started the way you are reading it now. I'm not really sure why I've thought about writing you. Your actions changed my life forever. It has changed your life forever. May 23, will be 7 years since you took my Samuel's life. 7 more years and counting that you get to live. You were born the same year. Did you know that? Except Samuel didn't make it to 20. He will forever be 19. I've tried so hard to understand why. Why did you decide to shoot Samuel. From my understanding, he was knocked out on the ground, and you shot him in the back. On a dare. I've wanted to hear your side of the story, but my heart can barely handle the information I was given. And would you tell me the truth anyway. I've never gone to the place he died. I don't want to see the place he took his last breathe, it's not a memory I want. As I sit and write this, I wonder what you are thinking as you read? Do you have regrets? Do you even care about the people you left hurting? Do you think about Samuel? Do you see his face? I can't think about Samuel, without thinking about you. You two are forever linked. I don't know why or where I'm going with this letter. I'm not sure I'll even send it, but if you are reading it, you know I got up the courage to send it after all these years. I've often thought about forgiveness. Forgiveness for you. But I feel like I am betraying my Samuel. How could I even think about forgiving you? I know God says we should forgive, but I'm just not there. I've seen other parents forgive the person who took away their child, and I wonder how they found it in their heart to do it. Do you even want forgiveness? Do you even care? So many thoughts are running through my head right now. So much heartache, questions I want answered, but then I don't want answered. Conflicted. I have a hard time looking at Samuel's pictures. He was so full of life, hopes, and dreams and in an instant you took all that away. I can't look at his pictures without crying. 7 years later and it still hurts like hell. Just the other day, I was watching TV, 48 Hours. Our story could have been on that show. Wow - OUR story. It just dawned on me that you are forever linked to me also. On TV, it showed a young man, about Samuel's age, laying in a parking lot, shot to death. The person was covered with a yellow tarp and all they showed were his sneakers and the blood flowing from under the tarp and all I saw was Samuel. My first born son, shot and killed in a parking lot. Even though it wasn't him on the TV. It was. I couldn't breathe, I started to cry and my husband turned the channel. This is my life now. Often filled with pain and sorrow that I try so desperately to hide. I want to scream at you!!! I WANT TO KNOW IF YOU EVEN CARE!!!! ARE YOU SORRY? WHY! WHY! WHY! When you opened this letter, did Samuel's pictures fall out? Do you wonder why I sent them? I want you to see the smiling face you took from us. I don't ever want you to forget the precious person you took from me. See that headstone? That's all I have left. My baby's body buried in Texas soil. I get physically sick every time I visit the cemetery. Even when I get near it. Not living in Texas, it's so much easier to fool myself into thinking Samuel is still alive and well. That he is going about his life as usual. But visiting the cemetery is a slap in the face. No - a punch in the face. I can't pretend anymore. Not a day goes by that I don't think about him. And I can't think about him, without thinking about you. I hate it! I've never wished ill on anyone and I won't start now. I don't wish you dead, I won't wish bad things on you, because, just like my Samuel, you are someone's son. You have a mother somewhere who is also hurting. And I don't wish this pain on any mother. I'm done. I've poured out all I can right now. I'm wrestling with myself if I want to hear from you. Hear if you are sorry. If you care, if you think about Samuel. Your response won't bring my Samuel back, but maybe it would help with the healing, maybe not. I don't know. All I know right now, is I had a son, Samuel Rodriguez Jr. He was born October 20, 1989 and taken from me by your hands May 23, 2009. I hope you don't ever forget his face, and I hope one day I can find solace, some understanding, and maybe forgiveness. samuelbaby samuel7 Samuel Texas Christmas 09 013
Interactions and Community
doll pieces doll pieces_2 littlehousedoll IMG_7169 bonnett apron dress and bloomers
I've been blogging since 2007.
I use to blog all the time, but have lost my blogging mojo these last couple of years. I've been wanting to get back into blogging, but every time I try, I feel forced and the words just don't come. I came across A Playful Day's blog challenge - The Love Your Blog Challenge and decided to give it a try. I want to love my blog again. So here it goes!
This weeks prompt is all about Interactions and Community. And that is what I loved about blogging. The community I built, and friends I made while on this journey. Blogging helped me during the hardest time of my life. The death of my oldest son. Through my blog, I was able to pour out my heart and find other Moms who were going through the same heartache as I. Our children did not die from sickness or accident, but by murder. The death of a child is devastating, but losing a child to murder.....it's the worst.
Trying to maintain after his death, I found my love of knitting. My mom taught me to knit as a child. I knit one thing, a stuffed horse, and never knit again. After the death of my son, how he died consumed my mind. If I wasn't moving, or doing something my mind would drift to his death, the way he died and the horror of it all, so I always had to be doing something. And knitting became that something. As long as I was knitting, reading patterns, learning something new, my mind was off his death. And slowly, but surely I wasn't focused so much on how my son died, but on the happy times, and along the way became a better knitter. And found my love of knitting dolls!
Blogging, knitting, community building! It's all here.
Foggy
Blog_2014 114 Blog_2014 110 Blog_2014 113 Blog_2014 108 Foggy.
It's funny how a foggy morning gets your mind turning.
Sometimes when calling out to one of my boys, I catch myself saying Samuel.
Sometimes in a moment, I forget he is no longer here.
Sitting at a red light, I realize this year will mark 5 years since he has been gone. Really? 5 years? No....can't be. I had to recount, using my fingers.
He was killed May 23, 2009.
2010...2011...2012...2013....2014...yes this year will be 5 years.
I see his face, remember his smile....but sometimes my brain is foggy and I can't remember how he sounded when he laughed. His voice gets a little foggy, but then I remember I have a cd...with his voice on it. I try to play it, but then remember how much it hurts to hear his voice. And sometimes, I welcome the fog, the forgetting for a moment. Because in that moment, that split second, he's still here.
But only for a moment.
MOMS(mothers of murdered sons/daughters) - Samuel
samuel
In a little bit of down time today at work, I found myself on the MOMS (Mothers of Murder Sons/Daughter) board. A couple of months after Samuel was killed, I was searching online for something, someone, anything that could help me deal with his death and I found MOMS. The ladies I "met" there helped me so much. Only another mom who has had their child murdered can understand the heartache we feel every day.
I'm not sure why I went to the MOMS board today, but my heart breaks each time I've gone back and see new members added to the group. This group none of us want to be part of. It's so sad and I feel the pain, the rawness of new members searching for someone who understands this new life.
This year will be 3 since Samuel was killed. 3 years. I have good days and bad days. I try to keep the bad days to myself. Cry when I'm alone, hide the hurt, put a smile on my face and keep going. Most people think I'm doing "so well". That I've moved on with life, that it doesn't hurt as bad. They are wrong. I can't even look at my own son's pictures. It hurts so bad. I have pictures I need to scan, photo books I want to create, but just can't do it! I have CD's of his music, but can't listen to them. Hearing his voice.....I just can't take it. He's buried in TX, I am in NC. Whenever I visit TX I go to the grave site, but hate it. It's a slap of reality that sometimes I avoid. He's not really dead. He's just away.....but once you go to the cemetery there's no denying. He is gone.
I want to reach out to some of my other MOMS, new and old. I've missed them. I keep in touch with some of them on Facebook, but they are really on my heart and mind right now. There must be a reason I wandered onto the site today, not having been there in months. Maybe someone needs a shoulder, an ear. Someone to share the pain. Maybe I can be that someone, or maybe I'm the one who needs someone.
The pain never stops - Samuel
samuelmanuel
On Samuel's birthday I asked my friends and family to share any photos or memories they have of Samuel. My step-mom text some pictures to me. Pictures I had never seen of Samuel. I asked her to send me the actual pictures so I could scan them. I got the pictures in the mail yesterday.
When I opened the mailbox and saw the box, my heart started racing. I wanted so much to see the pictures, but knew it would be hard. Even though Samuel has been gone for 2yrs I still have a hard time looking at his pictures. It hurts so much! I'm sure other Mom's who have lost a child can understand. You look back at the pictures, remembering the baby, the little boy and wonder why....WHY! Why is he no longer here? Why did some punk grab a gun, point it at my sons back, while he was laying on the ground unconscious and SHOOT him! OVER A DARE!!!!!!!!!
WHY! WHY! WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!
samuel
I look at the precious, beautiful little boy he was, and the young man he was becoming and my heart breaks. Just when you think you can breathe again, when you think the pain isn't so crushing, it all comes back with a glimpse of a picture.
I couldn't look at them long.......the hurt, the anger, the tears were just too much. Even writing this post is too much right now......
Storm clouds
after the storm
Today was a dreary day
Kinda fit my mood
Sadness has seeped in
I try to fight it, try to hide it
Smile, laugh, put on my mask
I wonder why it's here again...the sadness
And then I realize why
It's almost October
Samuel's birthday
Should be a happy time....but it's not
It's another reminder that he is no longer here
I will never see him again
Clouds roll in
I go outside with my camera
Hoping for a glance, a sign, anything
Are you there
Are you ok
Do you see me
Do you feel how much I miss you
Love you
Wish I could hold you just one more time
One more time
The clouds will roll away
The sun will shine again
My sadness will subside
Life will go on
But I will NEVER, EVER stop missing you
I will NEVER, EVER stop loving you
NEVER, EVER
An Uncle's Love
Junior
When my brother Junior posted these pictures on his Facebook page, it touched my heart so. It comforts me to know that he goes and visits Samuel's grave. Living in North Carolina I don't get to visit his grave much, and honestly if I were there, I don't think I would go that much either. Going to the cemetary is really hard for me. I know Samuel is gone, but it's easier to just think of him as somewhere else....somewhere else alive. But at the cemetary there's no denying it. His body is there, under the ground. I know....I know...denial is not a good thing. But guess what....sometimes it is. Sometimes I have to deny to keep my sanity.....to keep the hurting away. Sometimes it's all I can do to.
But I digress.....I'm not here to talk about my pain and denial. I'm here to tell my brother, Junior that I love him and that it comforts me to know that Samuel is not forgotten and not alone. That he goes to sit with him, talk with him, remember him and love him. And that makes my heart feel just a little bit better.
Samuel
samuelcharm
Two years, 3 days have passed since you were taken from us. Two years! At times it seems like forever since I've seen you, heard you saying Mom, heard your laugh.....
Then at times it feels just like yesterday I got the call.....the call that changed my world forever. You were gone....taken by a dare! A dare! I still have a hard time believing that. You were just finding your way in this world, excited about your music, your life and in a blink of an eye, a shot of gun, all of it was gone. For nothing....
I still look up into the clouds, hoping for a glimpse of you. I see shadows in the corner of my eyes, turn quickly, sure it's you. I wait for you to come to me in my dreams....to see your smile, to hold you once more...if only in my dreams. I think of you every day, every hour. Our lives have gone on, we are getting older......but you will forever be nineteen.....nineteen.........
I miss you my baby.....my first born......my Samuel.....
Samuel's 21 Birthday
Yesterday was a dreary autumn day....kinda fit my mood. Samuel's birthday was yesterday. He would have been 21. He should have been celebrating, but instead we were celebrating without him. I wanted to head to the beach, but was unable to, so we had our balloon release at home. Elijah said we needed to bake Samuel a cake, I did cupcakes instead. Everyone went off to school/work and I stayed home alone. Time to think about Samuel, his life - playing the coulda, woulda, shoulda game. So many things I wish I could change, time I wish I could have back. But of course all the wishes in the world doesn’t change the reality. He's gone and there is nothing I can do about it.
So every day I wake up, being the mother of murdered child, trying to do my best with the boys I have here on earth, so I never have to play the woulda, coulda, shoulda game with them, while never forgetting the one I have in Heaven.
rough day
samuel
Samuel fishing with Ezekiel and Elijah
I'm having a rough time today. To be honest, it started last night. Fonzy and the boys were at football practice and I was home alone. I’ve been watching the Ghost Whisperer lately. I know, some people might think it’s a corny show, but within the past few months, I’ve been DVR-ing all the past episodes. Normally, I can watch the show and I’m ok, but last night it got to me. I started thinking about Samuel wishing I could just talk to him one last time. To hug him and tell him how much I love and miss him. Then last night, I dreamt about him. He was a kid, about 11 or 12 and I knew he was dead, so I just grabbed on to him and held him so tight. I didn’t want to let go, because I knew if I did, I wouldn’t get the chance to hold him again. The alarm went off while I was holding him. I wanted so much to go back to sleep and find him again in my dreams. I guess that’s why I’m kind of down today. I’m really missing Samuel. I’m at work trying to hold it together; it’s not working…..
my world
my world
We are on this earth for such a short time. Some of us a lot shorter than others. I think constantly of all the people I've lost in my life. I still find it hard to believe Samuel is gone. When mommy died, I thought I would never know pain like that again. That her dying when I was 16 was certainly the worst thing I would ever have to go through in this life. I was wrong. It's been 1 year, 3 months, and 17 days since Samuel was killed. My world will never be the same. I watch the news with stories of other moms losing their children to senseless violence, and my heart aches for them. I know what's in store for them. Trying to make it day by day, but sometimes all you can do is cry. You think about the baby you carried, the toddler, the kid, the teen and you wonder what their life would have been like if they were still alive. I wonder about Samuel all the time. His birthday is coming up next month and I've been toying with the idea of sending the guy who shot him a birthday card or letter, so he can know it's Samuel's birthday and that because of him, he is not here to celebrate it. Does that sound crazy? I know I have other MOMS who read my blog. What do you think? I don't want him to ever forget what he took from me.
My world will never be the same as it was before May 23, 2009. That day changed my life forever. I miss Samuel so much, but as long as I am on this earth, he will not be forgotten. And I know one day, when I leave this earth, I'll see him again.
In the clouds
clouds On cloudy days, I search for you.
I look into the heavens knowing you are there, but unable to see you.
With the sun shining through the clouds, I can picture you there.
I want so badly to see you again. To see your smile, to hear your laugh, to hug you just one last time.
I think of you everyday. Holding on to precious memories. Trying to forgot the way you died. The way you looked in the casket - forever 19.
So I gaze into the clouds - imagine you there - smiling down on me.
Remembering Budda'
samuel5
May 23 was a year since Samuel was taken from us. To remember his brother, Manuel and his friends had a little ceremony at the cemetary, then headed to the place he was shot to release 325 balloons and to play his music. Mr 325(Abilene's area code) is what Samuel called himself.
samuel7
I would not have been able to go to the place Samuel was shot, but I'm glad Manuel and Samuel's friends were able to celebrate his life in the way they wanted. I know Manuel misses his Budda' everyday and struggles just like we all do.
Closure????
I’ve been meaning to update my blog regarding the trial, but just haven’t had the heart I guess to write. There were so many emotions I don’t even know where to begin. Last week at this time I was sitting in a courtroom, feeling sick and waiting to see the guy who killed Samuel. I was exhausted mentally and physically after the long 21 hour drive from NC to Texas. Fonzy and I drove it straight thru. I think we were going on straight adrenaline to make it in that time.
While sitting in the courtroom, I looked at pictures of Samuel with tears streaming down my face, wondering how we had come to this. Time ticked slowly by while we waited.
On the other side of the courtroom was a young girl, I guess her boyfriend and some other young guy. They were there for HIM. I noticed the girl glancing at me as I cried, but she quickly looked away. I wondered what they were thinking.
Jury selection was going on for the trial. We sat in the courtroom for about an hour or so when we were told that the potential jurors would need to come in the courtroom and we would have to leave since there weren’t enough seats for everyone. We were told we should come back about 1:00pm, as they should be done by then and the trial would start. We still had not seen HIM.
Leaving the courtroom, the hallway was filled with potential jurors. I looked around and thought 12 of these people will decide the outcome of this. They would decide if justice is served for Samuel. I stood in the hallway crying, not wanting to leave, but not wanting to stay either. Fonzy finally talked me into leaving. We drove back to the hotel and decided to do some shopping. As we were leaving the parking lot of the hotel, my phone rang. It was the DA. HE had decided to take the plea. 45 years. They wanted us to head back to the courtroom for the sentencing and this was the time I could give my victim impact statement.
Back at the courthouse, I nervously waited for my first glimpse of Latarus Foster. I had seen him on news stories and online, but never in person. I don’t know what I was expecting. I was watching the area where he would walk in, but must have glanced away, because when I looked back, he was there, sitting next to his lawyer. He basically looked like the images I had seen on television and online, except his hair was picked out in an afro and not in braids. Now that I type this, I’m second guessing myself. Maybe he had braids. I don’t know. Some things I can see clearly, others I can’t.
The judge came in and had Latarus stand for his sentence. They did all the formal stuff like asking him if he accepted the plea, that it was on his own accord and no one forced him to take it. If he understood his rights and that since he was taking a plea he could not appeal, etc. Then they asked him since he was taking the plea that he was admitting that he did shoot and kill Samuel and of course he answered yes. My heart was racing when he said it, when he admitted to taking Samuel’s life. He said it so casually, like someone asked him if he liked candy and he said yes. He showed no remorse, no nothing.
Once all the technicalities were done, the judge asked if any of the family would like to say anything. I went up in front of the courtroom, faced the man who killed my son and spoke from my heart. I didn’t prepare a written statement, because I’m sure I would not have followed it. I had 8x10 pictures of Samuel that I showed him and this is what I said, crying the whole time.
“I want you to know the person you took from us. Samuel was my first born son, he loved music, taught himself how to play the keyboard and composed his own music. He would travel throughout the south, promoting his music. While he was traveling I always told him to call me, so I would know he was ok. He would always tell me, "Mom…I’m not a baby anymore. I’m almost 20.” I told him he would always be my baby no matter how old he was. He never made it to 20. I was so worried about him being in danger traveling by himself and to think he was killed right here at home in Abilene.
This is my favourite picture of Samuel as a baby.
samuelbaby
This is him with his 3 brothers. His two little brothers will never get the chance to really know him.
samuel7
This is a picture of what I’m sure he looked like the night you shot him.
Samuel
And this is all I have left of my son.
Texas Christmas 09 013
I don’t want to know any details of the night you killed Samuel, I already have too many images in my head, but what I don’t understand is why shoot him in the back when he was already knocked out and lying on the ground. I just don’t understand. And not only did you take Samuel’s life, you took your own life, for what????”
I don’t remember if I said anymore after that. He looked me in the eyes as I was talking and he looked at the pictures and still never showed remorse. As I was leaving the front of the courtroom to sit down, he smiled!!! SMILED! Everyone else in the courtroom was in tears, even the girl who was there on his behalf.
The following morning while packing to head back to NC, I was watching the local news and they had the story on. They said Latarus had taken a plea of 45 years and had killed Samuel on a dare! A DARE! Someone had dared him to kill Samuel and he did!
Many people have asked me if I’m ok with the 45 years. If now I can have some closure. I am ok with the 45 years. I really didn’t want to go through a trial and have to hear details about that night. What I have heard is enough. It really doesn’t matter the details anyways, the outcome is still the same - Samuel is gone. As for closure – what is closure? Should I just now be able to go on with my life, as if this never happened, as if Samuel never existed? There will never be closure. My life will never be the same. A part of me is gone forever. My first born son, who would sleep on my chest as a baby, who was my first true love, who had a beautiful smile, and who worried me to no end is gone. Gone forever over a dare...
Trial
Got a call from the DA yesterday. The trial is Monday! I thought I would get more notice than this. I was told I would get more notice than this, but alas that's the justice system. Fonzy and I will head out tomorrow morning for the long drive to Texas. About 26 hours. We are driving straight thru and will take turns driving. I'm sure he will do the majority of the driving. I had to take some Motrin PM last night to sleep. I knew if I didn't take it I would be up all night tossing and turning. It's almost been a year since Samuel was killed. A year? It seems just like yesterday, but at times it seems like forever. Forever since he called me mom, forever since he told me his hopes and dreams. Forever since he said love you.
After the trial, during the sentencing phase the family is allowed to give impact statements. I've been writing this statement in my head for months. What do I say to the guy who shot my son in the back while he was laying on the ground unconscious? What? I guess I have this long drive to think about it.
I need to have pictures of Samuel there to show the judge/jury who Samuel was. What his hopes and dreams were. To make Samuel real to them. To tell them what this punk took from us. How can you sum up all the pain you feel in your heart every second of every day. How do you sum up a lifetime, his short life in a statement? I'm at a loss. I know I need to have something written down, because I will get up on the stand and probably forget everything I want to say. I know I will be a mess when I have to look this guy in face. To see him in the flesh and not on TV.
Right now I'm just confused, scared, angry and not looking forward to this at all.
Amish Grace - forgiveness
Samuel
I watched the movie Amish Grace last night, the story of the 5 Amish school girls shot and killed in Nickel Mines, PA. I knew watching the movie would be hard, because I would be thinking about Samuel, but I also knew the story dealt with forgiveness, so I wanted to watch. After the shooting, the Amish were able to forgive the gunman, Charles Roberts. How hard was that to forgive the man who had just shot and killed five little girls, their daughters? To most everyone it was unfathomable. I wondered while watching if forgiveness would have been as easy had the gunman been alive. If they had to see this man, face to face and endure a trial. To know he was still alive and breathing, while their daughters were not. I don't know. Maybe they still would have offered forgiveness.
Jesus said we should forgive -
Matthew 6:14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
I haven’t gotten to the point of forgiveness. I pray that God will give me the heart of forgiveness. I can’t expect to be forgiven my sins if I can’t forgive the men who killed Samuel, right? That's what the verse says, but I think about Samuel, laying cold in the ground and my heart aches and forgiveness is the furthest thing from my mind.
Grief Counseling/Memories
Ezekiel has been going through some things lately. He's normally an easy-going kid and doesn't get into trouble, but lately he's been having some issues. I don’t know if it’s pre-teen stuff or as the school counselor thinks, his grief with the death of Samuel. He really hasn’t talked a lot about Samuel. I guess we all haven’t talked too much about it. I mean, we talk about Samuel, share memories, but not really talk about his murder, or our feelings about it. I have not gone to any counseling and honestly would prefer not to right now, but the school counselor suggested Ezekiel go to grief counseling, so we went. Last night was our first night in group counseling. Ezekiel was with other kids his age. The majority of the kids had lost a parent, mostly Dads due to illness. He was the only one who had lost a sibling and to murder. The first thing we did as a group was write our favorite memory of our loved one on a butterfly. Ezekiel wrote the time he went fishing with Samuel. The butterflies were added to a mural the group is making. It was hard to see the kids add the butterflies with their memories. Some of them broke down crying. Grief is the same, no matter how the person was lost, sickness, suicide, murder – the outcome is still the same. That person is no longer here. After all the butterflies were added, we broke off into our individual groups. The kids went into groups by their age and all the adults were together. The session yesterday was a getting to know each other session. Anyone who wanted could share their story. The stories were heartbreaking and many tears were shed. I shared my/Samuel’s story. I have to admit, I did not want to be there. I’ve had people tell me that counseling will help, but I left there so depressed. When I got home I went straight to bed. I guess I have avoidance issues. I’m not really avoiding Samuel’s death, there’s no way I can avoid it, but I try not to dwell too much on it. I don’t know if I’m explaining this right. I think about Samuel every day, all day long, but I try to remember the good times. I guess to everyone, I am doing great. That is the picture I portray, the mask I wear. But I must admit its killing me inside. There have been times where I felt I couldn’t breathe, the pain was so much. And maybe going to counseling will help, who knows. Ezekiel feels it’s helping him, so I will continue to go, and maybe, just maybe it will help me too.
Friends/MOMS
Moon Looking at the moon last night, I was thinking of a new friend I've made. She is a mom in the UK who found my blog while searching for other moms who had lost their son/child to murder. Her son was killed a few weeks after my Samuel. We've been sharing long e-mails about our lives, and how we are dealing with the loss of our sons. I've only seen one picture of her and a few of her son, but I feel such a connection with her...I can't explain it. I've been stalking my e-mail for her notes and get excited when I see her name.
Moon Looking up at the moon, I think of our sons and like the other MOMS(Mothers of Murdered Sons/Daughters) I like to think of them in Heaven, all our kids together, watching over us.
Moon So M...you know who you are, I'm glad you found me. I'm sorry it had to be under these circumstances, but we are on this journey together and I for one am glad we found each other.
And to my other MOMS - this journey would not be possible if you weren't here with me. I love you all, think of you all everday and pray for you all.
