Sister Beach Day

back home a shade darker and sandy

Karen and I decided we needed a sister beach day, so this past weekend we made it happen! We packed my truck with blankets, badminton, beach umbrella, and a cooler filled with fruit, cheese, crackers and water. We took a selfie and hit the road a little after 9am.

We sang to country music (a whole lot of Kenny Rogers, to Karen's dismay) talked about life and I tried to keep my speed under 90 mph. A little under 2 hours later and we were on the beach! We struggled a little pulling our cooler on the sand, but once we got settled it was all good. Well, until it started to rain! It was just a quick summer shower, and even though Karen wanted to leave, I told her were sitting through it! We had an umbrella.....all was good. The dark clouds stayed around for most of the day, but the weather was perfect! Not too hot, and salty breezes blowing. We couldn't have asked for a better day.

I finished my zigzag blanket a few weeks ago, and was able to get pictures of it on the beach. When I started it a few years ago, I pictured the bright colors on the beach. I'm so glad to finally be done with it!

After hanging out on the beach for a few hours, the sky got darker, along with low rumbles of thunder, so we decided to pack it up and head to dinner. Dinner was at a restaurant on the waterfront. We were full of sand, sunburned, and windblown hair, but we didn't care. The food was good! That crab dip in the picture was yummy! We both wanted to lick the bowl! Dinner was also good. I had coconut shrimp and Karen had a steak. As we nearing the end of our meal, we had a little drama. A couple came in, the man clearly intoxicated. They sat at a table to my back. He asked us if one of the yachts were ours, and then said, "you know I'm from Roberson County, right" Uh no....we didn't know that, but thanks for telling us. We didn't say that, but I wanted to. Not even 10 minutes after they sat down, the couple started arguing quietly at their table. All of sudden, the guy grabbed the glass salt shaker and smashed it on the table. He cut his hand and blood was everywhere. His back was to my back, and he pushed back in his chair hard and pinned me to the table. All I could think was this man was going nuts and I was pinned in my seat! He walked out the restaurant with blood trailing everywhere. It looked like a crime scene! The managers came out and asked the lady if she was alright. She said they were leaving and she was calling the cops. She left the restaurant. Behind me, the table was full of glass, salt and blood. The managers and our waitress kept apologizing for the scene. Our waitress was shaking as she handed us our checks. As we were leaving, there was a trail of blood to the parking lot, and the guy was out there, talking to the manager of the restaurant, trying to get on his motorcycle to leave! The girl was no where to be seen. Hopefully, the manager called the cops and wouldn't let him drive drunk, but we didn't hang around to find out!

All in all, it was a good day. Yeah, we had a little rain, a little drama, and a table next to us that looked like a crime scene, but still a good day.

Also, we both decided we need to stay away from people from Roberson County, wherever that is, because they may be a little crazy!

Happy Bright ZigZag Afghan

IMG_4662 IMG_4654 IMG_4651 IMG_4648
I started this afghan in April of 2012. We are now in June of 2016! Yeah....that's a long time to have a work in progress. I was so excited when I first started my zigzag. I thought for sure I was going to have it done by Fall. But I got bored with it and put it aside. I've done that several times. Excited to have it finished, bored when I had been knitting on it for days! We have a beach trip coming up in early July and  I'm DETERMINED to get this done before then. I would love to take finished pictures of it on the beach. I just think these bright colors would look awesome on a sandy beach.

Hmmmm...just had a case of deja vu. I think we had a beach trip before when I said the exact same thing. This time I'm going to make it happen!

I will not get bored. I will not get bored. I will not get bored.
I think I can. I think I can. I think I can.

ZigZag Afghan Continues

zigzagging

HaPpY Friday!

I'm so ready for this weekend. Ha! What's new! I'm always ready for the weekend! This just seemed like a super long week for me. We don't have any plans this weekend, just hanging out at home, probably going to the pool. It's been hot as heck! And of course I will do some knitting. I'm trying to get my ZigZag afghan done by next weekend. Probably not gonna happen unless I do some marathon knitting this week! It's bigger than the picture above, but I still have a ways to go! I have a bunch of other projects (hats) I want to get working on, and 2 babydolls that got pushed to the wayside due to the ZigZag, so I really need to finish it and move on!

ZigZagging

zigzagcollage

It's a dark, rainy Wednesday morning here in NC. Tropical storm Beryl is at our coast and we are getting hit with lots of rain and humidity. This is the kind of morning  you would much rather be home, puttering around in PJ's, with knitting and coffee in hand, but alas, I have to work.

Life has been busy lately and I haven't knit in the past week or so. Gasp! I'm still working on babydolls 2 & 3, and also my ZigZag afghan. I've taken the ZigZag with me to a minor league baseball game - the Carolina Mudcats. Had my own little stitch and pitch. I actually got a lot done at the game. I'm still loving the bright colors and zigzaging pattern.

Stitch N' Pitch

stitchnpitch1
Baseball season is in full swing! We are at the field at least 3 times a week! Some nights after 9pm! I don't know what I'd do without knitting.  It's fun watching the boys play, but that's a lot of knitting time that shouldn't be wasted!

I knit when they are in the dugout and cheer when they are hitting or in the outfield.

Knit...cheer.....knit.....cheer!

Happy, Bright ZigZag Afghan

Tomorrow we are going to a minor league game, the Carolina Mudcats. I will have a project stashed in my camera bag, just in the case the game get's boring.

Happily Bright ZigZag and Babydoll 3

zigzag3

So this past weekend, I was suppose to start on my first pair of socks....didn't happen. Sunday was a cold, rainy, deary day, so I decided to start an afghan. I have fallen in love with all the crocheted blankets out in blogland, but since I can't crochet, I needed a knit pattern. After searching many patterns on Ravelry, I settled on this one - Zig Zag Afghan. The pattern is easy and I'm really enjoying the zig zag pattern.

I wanted an acrylic yarn that is durable and washable. My favorite is Red Heart. The main color is Bikini. I love this yarn because of all it's bright colors. Pairing it with an even brighter pink, orange and white and I'm on my way to a SUPER BRIGHT afghan! I'm loving it already! Looking at the bright colors make me happy, hence the name,

Happily Bright ZigZag.

I'm hoping to have it done by Fall, but the way I'm going I may get it done before then!

babydoll3I'm working on 2 babydolls at the same time. This is Babydoll 3. Look....I've become like other knitters and have more than one WIP! Yay me! :)
