27 of 365 - Playground

I took the boys to the park today for some photo taking practice. It was freezing out, but we had a good time. We decided we need to do that more often. It beats being in the house yelling at them to stop jumping around, stop throwing the ball around the house, and stop fighting. This way they could do all of the above and I can happily snap pictures. A win win for all of us.

You can view the whole set here: click on Playground set.

26 0f 365 - Tonight's Dinner

E.T. (you know who you are) this post is just for you. Look at all that pork....YUMMY!

25 of 365 - Rose

One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon--instead of enjoying the roses that are blooming outside our windows today.

No energy, no time, no picture

I know I'm suppose to be posting a picture a day....that is the whole point of a 365 project, right? Right. But as of right now, I have no energy and it seems no time. Life happens and all your good intentions and promises go out the door. I'm not giving up, I have a new camera, and tons of pictures to take, photo books I want to make, books on photography I need to read, a scarf I started knitting, that by the way looks the same as when I started, laundry that needs to be done, an apartment that needs a good cleaning, letters/card that I said I would send out....I could go on and on. It's never ending, but as of right now, at this very moment, I am too tired for anything. I've looked through all my pictures and nothing grabbed me to post, so I'm not posting one today. Tomorrow is a new day, and maybe I will feel inspired and have an awesome picture to post...right now I'm going to bed.

Finally the snow day pictures

Finally, I have our snow day pictures up on my Flickr account. I was trying to edit all my photos, but gave up. So most of what you see, is basically straight out of the camera. I have a lot to learn, but taking pictures everyday and reading as many books on photography as I can.

23 and 24 of 365 - Easy Like a Sunday Morning

This is what our Sunday morning looked like, messy bed, us getting ready for church and the boys tired of waiting for us.

22 of 365 - No pork please

No pork please, originally uploaded by Mami Dearest.

It has been over two years since Ezekiel cut pork from his diet. He was 7yrs old when he quit and hasn't eaten pork since. I wish I had his willpower, but I like my bacon, sausage, and pork chops too much.

YaY! Snow Day

Snow Day, originally uploaded by Mami Dearest.

We got our snow day today. I took over 280 pictures, and have spent this evening editing them while watching all the inauguration festivities. I am no where near finished with the editing, so this is all you get for now. I'll post more tomorrow. I have some great ones that I plan on printing and framing. I am loving my new camera...loving it!

20 of 365 - Yes We Can!

20 of 365 - Yes We Can!, originally uploaded by Mami Dearest.

I asked Fonzy what should be the title of this post and he said "Yes We Can", but not in the sense of Obama saying "Yes We Can", but our boys watching this historical moment and thinking, "Yes We Can!" If Obama can be President, so can we.

Possible Snow Day

We are suppose to get snow tonight. I keep checking out the window, hoping to see white. The weather man said it wouldn't start until about midnight, so I guess I have a few more hours. I so want a snow day tomorrow. A snow day, plus the inauguration, couldn't ask for a better day. Let it snow! Please, let it snow!

19 of 365 - Ezekiel

Ezekiel is my poser. No matter how many times I ask him to pose for pictures he obliges. Who knows, maybe one day he will become a model...you never know.

18 of 365 - Fonzy

18 of 365, originally uploaded by Mami Dearest.

Fonzy does not like to have his picture taken, so I have to get cameo shots of him whenever I can. I snapped this one while we were at Elijah's basketball game Saturday morning.

We are in the middle of basketball season for the boys. Elijah thinks he's Lebron James or somebody. You can't tell him nothing while he is on the court.

New Camera

There was a slight pause in my 365 photo challenge, but thanks to my new Nikon D60 I got from hubby, the 365 challenge is back on! I am so excited about this camera! I was saving up for it and was hoping to have it by this summer, but Fonzy got me the camera for an early birthday/anniversary present. I have alot to learn with this camera. I've always use a point and shoot, but I'm ready to take on the DSLR world.

So 365 is back on as of right now! I can't wait to see how I learn and grow with my new camera.

14 of 365 - Moonlight

across the street from our apartment

I tried to capture the moon tonight, but this was the best I got. My poor point and shoot camera just couldn't get the picture I wanted. The moon was beautiful. Can I say again, I can't wait to get my new camera. I know I won't automatically take great pictures because I have a new camera, but I'm sure it will be better than this.

13 of 365 - Return to Me

I have been struggling recently in my walk with Christ. I have not been the Christian I should be, have not been obedient and have let the Devil win. But you know what? God has not given up on me. No matter how far away I've gone from Him, He is still there, and he wants me to "return to Him", that is the message I received tonight from my Aunt Nadia. My Aunt Nadia has been a servant of the Lord for many years and such a shining example of His Love. The Lord put it on her heart to call me tonight. When I saw her number on the caller ID, I hesitated to call her back, because I knew what was coming, but you know what, that was the Devil. He did not want me to call her back, but I did, even though I knew she was going to ask me how my walk with Christ has been going. And of course, that is what she did. When I told her that I had not been to service in a few months, and had been struggling with my walk with the Lord, she said that God still loves me and wants me to return to him. She said that if you look throughout the Old Testament, it is filled with God telling His people to return to Him, and when she said that, I got chills. I know God was speaking to me through her. I just started to cry. My Aunt Nadia prayed with me and asked God to strengthen me to return to Him, and I truly felt Him. Once off the phone, I had to get my Bible and find His words and there it is, in Zechariah 1:3, The Lord telling me to return to Him, and He will return to me. Isn't God wonderful! No matter how far I've strayed, no matter how disobedient I've been, if I return to Him, He will return to me, it says so right there.

12 of 365 - Breakfast

I remembered to grab my camera this morning before we took off for Elijah's basketball game. When I look at my pictures taken with my point and shoot camera I can't help but want the new SLR camera I'm saving up for. The pictures taken with a SLR camera are so much better. Fonzy said I'm driving him crazy. All I talk about is getting a new camera. I hope to have my new camera by this summer. Fonzy and the boys think I'm bad now taking pictures all the time, wait until I get my new camera. I'm going to be a picture taking fool. I can't wait!

10 of 365 - Rainbow

The past 2 days we've been having stormy weather and the skies have been beautiful! I almost always have my camera with me, but the past 2 days, I haven't, so I've been taking pictures with my Blackberry. This shot was taken this afternoon at work. Do you see the rainbow?

365 - 8/still missing you

mommy's sweater - only piece of clothing of hers I kept

It's been 22 years today since Mommy died and I still miss her. Time may help ease the pain, but it never, ever goes away. Not a day goes by that I don't think about her or miss her. Not one.

Are you kidding me

Why is it that the one morning I decide to stop by the grocery store for cereal to bring to work there is no milk in the whole grocery store....no 1%, no 2%, no whole, no skim, no half gallon, no whole gallon....NO NOTHING! Are you serious? And on top of that, it's pouring down buckets.

Lovely morning ya'll, lovely morning.

365 - 6/ Watching Football

I've been amazed lately at how much the boys know about football, the teams, the players, their positions, even numbers on jerseys. This is the first year I've noticed the boys watching football, I mean really watching like grown men. While cooking dinner yesterday, I listened to Ezekiel and Elijah talk football with Fonzy while watching a playoff game. They talked football for over an hour, looking up players online, getting the line up for the Pro ball, talking about who was better and who's team was going to win the Superbowl.....sharing special time. Fonzy told me of the times him and his dad would watch games. You can tell when he talked about it, it was a special time for him, and now he is sharing the same with the boys. I wonder when the boys get older, will they still want to sit around and watch the game with Dad, or will they prefer to be out with their friends, Dad all but forgotten. I guess it really doesn't matter....I'm sure when the boys get older, they will remember these times fondly, just like Fonzy remembers his.

LLM 365-3/New Beginnings

With all the warm, rainy weather we've been having in NC, the tree out back has started to bud. This picture sort of signifies how I am feeling right now. It's a brand new year, a fresh start and I'm ready. I'm not making resolutions, because I never stick to them, but there are some things I want to accomplish this year.

This is my "not resolutions" list.

~To grow as a Christian, and be an example to everyone.

~To be a better wife

~To spend more quality time with my boys, all four of them. Which may be a little difficult since my older boys are in TX with their Dad, but I can still be more of a presence in their lives than I have been.

~Keep in touch more with my extended family - our family is bad about keeping in touch. I have cousins that I grew up with that I haven't spoken to in over a year. That is unacceptable!

~To write more letters - I was speaking to one of said cousins about how we use to write letters all the time and how we've gotten out of the habit. I'm going to start that back up and reconnect with family, in a more personal way.

~To live a healthier lifestyle - cook healthier meals, and try to exercise more

I could list other things, but this is more than enough for now, don't you think. I don't want to over do it, since these are not resolutions.

For real, they aren't!

Happy New Year!

To everyone who reads my blog, I pray you have a Blessed and Happy 2009!

Now I'm off to bed...it's waaaay past my bedtime and according to Fonzy this is the first time in the 10yrs we've been together that I've been up for the New Year. He may be right.
